Rebecca LaShelle is a pianist, composer and music educator with more than 15 years of experience teaching piano, composition, music theory and music history in Brooklyn, New York and Austin, Texas. She is now rebuilding her private studio in Denver and welcoming a limited number of students.

Her teaching emphasizes musicianship, theory, interpretation, creativity and a strong technical foundation. She especially enjoys helping students see how these areas connect and deepen their appreciation and understanding of music as a whole.

 

Rebecca is also a commissioned composer whose work includes original music for solo piano, ensembles and larger dance productions. Her music is inspired by storytelling, mythology and folklore, often combining a strong sense of narrative with accessible, expressive writing.

 

She has been active in the professional music-teaching community through MTNA for more than 20 years, including involvement with its state and local affiliates, the Colorado State Music Teachers Association and the Denver Area Music Teachers Association.

 

Rebecca believes music is an essential part of a well-rounded education. Her goal as a teacher is not only to help students become capable, confident musicians, but to foster curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning that extends far beyond the music studio.
